New Years journaling prompts

2017 is slowly coming to an end. In less than three weeks we will say goodbye to the last year and will welcome 2018. It is time to look back on the last twelve month and maybe look forward to what is coming next. Now is the time to set our new years resolutions and most important, it is the perfect time to journal and record this whole process. Here are 6 journaling prompts to get you started with journaling about the last and upcoming year.

It doesn’t matter what you do with these prompts. You could try to draw, you could write a long text or just create a simple list. Do whatever makes you happy and don’t compare yourself to others because journaling is about you and nobody else.

In 2017 I…

Create a list of things you did in 2017. Think about the places you have been to, goals you have achieved and things you did. Take the good memories with you and leave the bad memories behind.

In 2018 I will…

Create a list of things you will do in 2018. Set yourself goals and think about things that will happen for sure. For example, in 2018 I will turn 19 and graduate and I want to move out and go to university. Get yourself excited about what will come next.

In the end of 2015 I made a list of things I want to do in 2016 and I am proud to say that I did almost everything from that list

At the beginning of 2017 I…

Think about who you were twelve months ago. What did you dream of? What where you planning to do? What has changed in the last twelve months? Evaluate the good and the bad changes and maybe draw a conclusion for the coming year.

In the end of 2018, I want to…

Think about who you want to be in twelve months. Think about your personality, how you want to feel, people you want to have around you… Create a picture of who and where you want to be in December next year.

Things that changed in 2017

Create a list of things that changed during the last year. Did you change? Did any circumstances change? Your friends?

Here is another spread of 2015 where I wrote a list of things that changed that year (right side)

Write a letter to your future self.

I think it is a great idea to write a letter to your future self at the end of each year because one day you can read through them and see how you have changed. You could also write a letter to 2017 or 2018 telling who you are now or who you want to become which goes along with the previous prompts

If you try out any of these prompts I would love to hear about how you liked them.

Lots of Love
